In half a year, the Covid-19 pandemic has already significantly impacted the relationship between the outside world and the people that inhabit it. The public realm, already competing with online virtual environments and entertainment is now faced by a new threat: the health risk inherent in being in shared spaces. To counter this, public spaces need to become more distinctive, more compelling, and better managed. Through exploring recent and upcoming studio projects, the conclusion is drawn that in order for our shared physical environments to flourish post-Covid-19, we must invest in bold, innovative, and distinctive public spaces, that are accessible, inclusive, and enticing to all.
