Session 2 / Singapore Live Program: A Post-COVID-19 Vision for Singapore: Transforming the Built Environment

Beginning with a brief overview of the history of the built environment in Singapore, the Construction Industry Transformation Map that was formulated in 2017 will be shared, detailing a vision for Singapore. Three main areas of focus will be covered within this vision: Green Building, Design for Manufacturing & Assembly, and Integrated Digital Delivery, with strategies that have since emerged in response to COVID-19 detailed as well. Changing approaches around energy-efficiency, robotics and automation, digitization of the building process, and off-site labor are all discussed in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusions on the evolving nature of urban planning and the necessary flexibility of the built environment are discussed with particular reference to the dense urban context of Singapore and how it will handle planning around the pandemic going forward.
